Gareth Potts (born June 30, 1983 in Stoke-on-Trent ) is an English pool player .

Career

Gareth Potts began playing pool at the age of seven . In 2000 he became Junior World Champion of the World Eightball Pool Federation (WEPF). In 2003 he reached the quarter-finals at the WEPF Men's World Championship . Two years later he became world champion with an 11: 7 final victory over his compatriot Chris Melling . After being eliminated in the round of 32 in 2006 , he won the 2007 title in the final against Mick Hill . At the WEPF World Cup in 2008 , he became world champion for the third time by beating Jason Twist in the final . He was the first player who managed to successfully defend a title at the WEPF World Cup. A year later he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Adam Davis .

In 2013 Potts won the World Chinese 8-Ball Masters . A year later he succeeded in defending his title with a 15: 6 final victory against the Chinese Shi Hanqing . A few weeks later he also won the IPA Blackball World Championship. At the World Chinese 8-Ball Masters 2015 he came in third place. In January 2017 he won the World Chinese 8-Ball Masters for the third time . In the final, he was able to prevail after an 11:11 draw with 2: 1 in the shoot-out against the Chinese Zhang Kunpeng .
