Michael "Mick" Hill (born April 7, 1980 in Dudley ) is an English pool player . With six titles he is the record world champion of the WEPF .

Career

Hill began at the age of five years with the billiards . At the age of eleven he began to take part in regional tournaments. At the European Junior Championships in 1997 he made it into the final in 9-ball , in which, however, he lost to the German Thorsten Hohmann . A year later he came in third place.

In 2004 Hill won the WEPF 8-Ball World Championship by beating Darren Appleton in the final . In 2007 and 2009 he again made it to the finals, which he lost to Gareth Potts and Phil Harrison , respectively . In 2010 Hill became 8-ball world champion for the second time with a 11-8 win in the final against Gareth Potts. Shortly before, he had won the WEPF World Masters, making it the first player to win both tournaments in the same year. In April 2013 Hill won a tournament on the Great Britain 9-Ball Tour for the first time, followed by the second tournament victory in December of the same year. In June 2015 he became 8-ball world champion for the third time with an 11: 5 victory in the final against his compatriot Nigel Clarke . In March 2016 he reached the final of the Chinese 8-Ball World Championship , in which he was defeated by the Chinese Shi Hanqing with 20:21. At the WEPF 8-Ball World Cup in 2016, he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Karl Sutton .

In early 2017, Hill competed in the Molinari Players Championship , the first tournament in the World Pool Series , and reached the second round. A little later he reached the quarterfinals of the Chinese Pool World Championship , in which he was defeated by the Scots Jayson Shaw . In July 2017 he made it into the final for the sixth time at the WEPF World Championship. In the reissue of the 2009 World Cup final, he prevailed 11: 6 against Phil Harrison.

In 2010, Hill was part of the British team that was eliminated in the preliminary round of the WPA World Team Championship .
