Gareth Unwin

Gareth Unwin (born February 20, 1972 in Düsseldorf ) is a British film producer . He won an Oscar in 2011 for the film The King's Speech .

Life

After graduating from Ravensbourne College in London, Unwin worked as an assistant director on numerous TV series and feature films from the mid-1990s . In 2008 he produced the television series The Gym and the following year six episodes of Michael Smith's Drivetime series . He made his debut as a producer in 2009 with the film Exam, directed by Stuart Hazeldine , which received a 2010 British Academy Film Awards nomination .

In 2010 Unwin co-produced the film The King's Speech by director Tom Hooper with Iain Canning and Emile Sherman . For this he won the Oscar in the category Best Film at the 2011 Academy Awards . The film was also recognized at the BAFTA Awards, the British Independent Film Awards and the PGA Awards . There was also a nomination for best film at the European Film Awards .

In 2011 he produced with Scarecrow , Fat Hamster , Chopin to Infinity , Pl.ink! , Little Postman , Magic Piano , Night Island and Lexdysia produced a series of short films as well as the cartoon The Flying Machine .
