Garrett Eckbo

Garrett Eckbo (born November 28, 1910 in Cooperstown , New York , † May 14, 2000 ) was an American landscape architect of Norwegian descent. Together with Dan Kiley and Thomas Church , he was one of the initiators of the “ Harvard Revolution ”, which introduced the classic modern style of Walter Gropius and Mies van der Rohe into American garden design. He is best known for his asymmetrical designs, which were dominated by diagonals. In 1994, Garrett Eckbo was elected a member ( NA ) of the National Academy of Design .

Eckbo studied design at Harvard University and attended the seminars of Walter Gropius , professor at the Graduate School of Design . This shaped him decisively.
