Gary Kurfirst

Gary Kurfirst (born 1947 - January 13, 2009 in Nassau , Bahamas ) was an American film and music producer .

Life

Gary Kurfirst started organizing musical performances when he was still at school. In 1968 he organized the New York Rock Festival, which attracted 18,000 visitors and which included The Doors , Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin . Among other things, he was the manager of Blondie , Talking Heads and Eurythmics .

Kurfirst produced four films, including Stop Making Sense by Jonathan Demme and We're Outta Here !, a documentary about the Ramones . He has been nominated twice for the Independent Spirit Awards .
