Gary Merrill
Gary Merrill (born August 2, 1915 in Hartford , Connecticut , † March 5, 1990 in Falmouth , Maine ) was an American actor.
life and career
Merrill made his film debut in 1943. He celebrated his greatest success in 1950 with the film Alles über Eva . During the filming he met his second wife Bette Davis . Both married that same year. Before the actor couple divorced in 1960, they adopted two children. 1952 Gary Merrill starred in the movie Drama A stranger calls ( Phone Call from a Stranger ) the main part of a lawyer. Shelley Winters was the leading female actress. Bette Davis, already a big star at the time, took on the small role of Marie Hoke, who was tied to bed in this film.
In later years, Gary Merrill appeared almost entirely in television productions. In 1980 he retired into private life.
Gary Merrill was married to actress Barbara Leeds from 1941 to 1950 and died in 1990 of bronchial carcinoma .
