Gary Washington (born July 12, 1995 , real name Alexander Gisbrecht ) is a German rapper and battle rap artist from Wertheim .

Life

Gisbrecht learned to play the piano in his youth. He gained his first experience as a rapper under the stage name Lil eXe together with his schoolmate Dominik Amarell, which Big D called. Gisbrecht and Amarell later changed their stage names. Lil eXe became Nemphis , Big D became Drazor . As Nemphis, Giesbrecht entered the world of online battlerap for the first time in 2011 and took part in the video battle tournament in 2011. But his first tournament was already lost in the first round. Nemphis was eliminated and tried again the next year at the video battle tournament 2012. This time he was able to survive the first preliminary round, but in preliminary round 2 he was eliminated again.

On his third participation in the video battle tournament, he changed his style and created the character of Gary Washington. In the 2013 video battle tournament, Gary Washington was able to reach the 64th finals. 2014 he decided on JuliensBlogBattle participate, which of Julien Sewering is organized. In the course of the tournament he gained notoriety. His videos have been viewed millions of times.

In 2015, Gary Washington was on tour with rapper Der Asiate .

In 2016 Giesbrecht took part in the JuliensMusicCypher , where every rapper submits a free track . Gary Washington won the competition with the track "Skyscraper" submitted in the final. This was particularly successful due to the high number of 4122 downloads for the final track, which even brought Washington a place in the official German charts (79th place) and the official Austrian charts (35th place). While the JuliensMusicCypher was still playing, Gary Washington released the EP Tape 24 . However, this did not become a commercial success. In a review of the Rap-N-Blues.com website, the EP received a bad review.
