The Asian
The Asian (born September 23, 1988 in Großröhrsdorf , real name Andy Zirnstein ) is a German rapper who is under contract with the independent label Bassukah .
Career
The Asian was born in 1988 under the name Andy Zirnstein as the son of a German mother and a Vietnamese father in Großröhrsdorf . He then grew up in Sohland on the Spree near Bautzen . There he first attended the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Realschule and subsequently completed vocational training as a specialist for swimming pools . He practiced this profession for seven years. Zirnstein became aware of hip-hop music in the late 1990s through the American rappers Eminem and Tupac Shakur . At the age of 17 he tried his hand at hip-hop battles as a freestyle rapper . In 2006 he began to write his own texts under the pseudonym Der Asiate. When choosing his stage name, he was guided by rapper B-Tight , who also portrays himself as "The Negro". Two years after the publication of his first song Wahre Liebe , his debut album was recorded. This was published in 2009 under the title Asiatainment for free download. The SCT-Music platform , which Der Asiate had founded with some friends, took over the marketing . Jake Des was responsible for the production of the album. It was through this that the Asian got to know the rapper refleXion of the hip-hop group Beat im Ohr. Together, the two then formed the formation Potato & Rice. In 2010, the rapper's first collaboration project was published again with the EP Rap tastes . In the same year, Der Asiate won a competition on the MyVideo video portal , for which, in addition to prize money, he received an appearance in front of Olli Banjo and Kool Savas at the YOU 2011 youth fair .
In 2011 Der Asiate moved to Leipzig and subsequently appeared at regional hip-hop events, where he got to know the Area 5 formation, among other things. A year later, the Rapz Records label released the joint sampler Next Generation by him, refleXion and Area 5. Furthermore, Der Asiate 2012 took part in the first edition of the online tournament JuliensBlogBattle by Youtuber Julien Sewering . In the first round of the battle rap competition, he prevailed against rapper Ahmed. In the semifinals he then met 4tune , which he was also able to defeat. Since the second semi-final was canceled, 4tune and Der Asiate competed against each other again in the final. 4tune won the tournament in the second round. By participating, Der Asiate was able to increase its level of awareness significantly. His first contribution to the JBB 2012 already received 1.9 million views. On October 1, 2012, the free EP Unfassbar these Schlitzis was released , which includes the rapper's JBB contributions. As a guest rapper, Der Asiate won Mach One , Weekend , ÉSMaticx , Metrickz , Punch Arogunz , 4Tune, Happy Beckmann, Sorgekind, refleXion, Ahmed, Emgi, Mc Maik, Murrath86, Mr. No Name, Dollar John and T-Jey.
At the beginning of 2013 the first commercial project was published on the label Asiatainment . This is a double album consisting of the solo project Der Reiskanzler and the second part of the formation Potato & Rice Until the food comes . Among others, BattleBoi Basti and Mach One made guest contributions to the album. On March 7th, 2014 the EP bis zum Morgengrauen followed on the label. The beats for the release were produced by Dirty Dasmo. On the included song Alle hate mich you can hear GReeeN , Rec-Z , Gio, Scotch and Dirty Mole. That same year, The Asian as part of a "bonus Battles" against Grinch Hill met again at JuliensBlogBattle in appearance. In spring 2015, the Asian accompanied his partner Lumaraa on her Kämpfernat (o) ur tour . In summer they performed together at the splash! Festival . Both had met a year earlier at the same music festival.
In 2015 the Asian signed an artist contract with the Bassukah label . On November 6th, he released the album Kittenfleisch on the platform . This was first released on CD and as a box set. Since a guideline of the Federal Association of the Music Industry was not complied with when the latter was compiled , the album was classified as " not chartable ". For Kittenfleisch , among others, we created joint songs with Lumaraa, B-Tight , Kitty Kat , Rhymin Simon and Gary Washington . The songs Bademeister , Tina and Alles Kanacken were implemented as music videos. The Asian presented kitten meat as part of the rice culture tour 2015 . He was accompanied by Gary Washington on the eleven appearances tour. In 2016 Der Asiate took over the management of the rapper 4tune, with whom he subsequently recorded a joint album in Dresden. On August 18, 2017, this was published under the title Bang Shui on Bassukah . For the publication, the rappers based themselves on the mixtape Beats for Hip Hop by Favorite and Hollywood Hank . Blokkmonsta , Rako , Blut & Kass and GReeeN are represented as guest rappers. The productions were contributed by StreetClassix Beatz, Sebastian Mitchell and Olli Banjo . Bang Shui rose to number 44 in the German charts. On July 27, 2018, 4tune and Der Asiate released the Bang Shui Remix EP .
reception
The e-zine Laut.de praises Der Asiate for his “ pun ”. By participating in Julien's BlogBattle , he had " gained respect and credibility as one of the fresh voices in the hip-hop circus ". In terms of content, he makes use of “ Asian clichés ”, but also has “ credibly told personal stories in the repertoire ”, which means that his texts “ do not tip completely into slapstick ”. Sebastian Hüfing-reviewed album for Laut.de Kätzchenfleich . In his opinion, " rap and rhyme technique are on a solid level ". The Asian praises self-irony, which “ in the end means nothing more than that he launches a bunch of prejudices in every track ”. In his criticism of Bang Shui, Dominik Lippe also criticized the " constant irony that only revolves around itself ". This concept is so overused that “ the permanent distance robs the album of meaning. “On the other hand, the Asian is“ naturally no nakedness in terms of rap technique ”. According to Daniel Fersch, a “ young, expectant target group ” might find pleasure in Bang Shui , but a “ high quality piece of art ” should not be expected. Carolin Schreier, on the other hand, finds praise for the rapper. The Asian manages to counter stereotypes with “a lot of self-irony, partly an innocent silliness and above all a large portion of 'Take It Easy' [...] with a high five. “His understanding of humor arouses associations with a quote from Titanic's editor-in-chief Tim Wolff :“ Long live the joke. The smart one. The plate. Anyone who finds enough people to laugh at them. "
