Gaspar Becerra (* 1520 in Baeza , Jaén province ; † 1570 in Madrid ) was a Spanish painter , sculptor and architect of the Renaissance .

Becerra went to Rome at an early age , studied Raphael and Michelangelo there and worked under Giorgio Vasari on the frescoes in the halls of the Cancelleria . Around 1556 he settled in Saragossa . His reputation soon led him to the service of King Philip II. He has since worked in the El Pardo Palace and in the Alcázar in Madrid, was court sculptor in 1562 and royal painter in 1563.

His frescoes in the Alcázar were burned in 1734. In the Pardo there are still ceiling paintings from the Perseus legend. Several of his altarpieces and sculptures can be found in Madrid and other Spanish cities. He made a significant contribution to the spread of Italian taste in Spain, particularly in sculpture.

The thoroughness of Becerra's anatomical studies are testimony to the figures he drew for the work of Juan de Valverda (Rome 1556) and two statues made for scientific and artistic purposes and distributed in plaster casts.
