The Gasthaus zum Hirschen is a listed building in the Munich district of Solln . The building is located in the Solln villa colony at Sollner Straße 43 next to the Solln S-Bahn station. The former Hubertus pharmacy , a villa with a shop pavilion and the former post office are in the immediate vicinity . Together they formed a kind of center in the early days of the villa colony.

history

The inn with beer garden is one of the early buildings in the villa colony. It was built in 1901 by Gustav Schellenberger (1872–1930), a nephew of Jakob Heilmann . In the period that followed, the property served a function as a train station, a popular excursion destination, artists' meeting place and social center for the residents of the villa colony.

In a pre-existing back attached dance hall one was in 1949 cinema , which in 1964 under the name of Film Art Studio Solln as cinema was acquainted with artistic talent. The extension was replaced by a new building in 1995 because it was in disrepair. This is where the Solln cinema is located today , one of the few suburban cinemas still in existence in Munich, but not an arthouse cinema like its predecessor.

Building

The inn is a representative, villa-like building with neo-baroque and rural features. It has a mansard roof and a front part of the building in the form of a round pavilion, in which the entrance is located. A portal with a blown gable adorns the entrance .
