Gasthof zum Storchen

The Gasthof zum Storchen is a restaurant in Mühlau in the canton of Aargau . The building is under cantonal monument protection and is located near the parish church of St. Anna .

The building was erected in 1731. At first it was called Gasthof zum Löwen . In 1937 it was renamed after storks had nested on the roof for several years . The stately house in the traditional rural architectural style of the Freiamt has five on six axes and a crooked hip roof . The two lower storeys are bricked, while the third storey and the two attic storeys are designed as a frame construction. Each two adhesive roofs on consoles characterize the gable. In the middle of the street gable, a flight of stairs leads to the main portal, which is marked with the dates 1731–1951. The catering business includes a restaurant and several guest rooms.
