Mühlau once belonged to the parish of Sins , which was looked after by monks from Engelberg Monastery . In 1580 the city of Lucerne , which ruled the village at the time, approved the construction of a wooden chapel . The condition was that it would never be elevated to a parish church. In 1654 the chapel, which was consecrated to St. Anne , was moved to the location of the present church. In 1849 the community of Mühlau decided to rebuild the chapel so that the curate chaplaincy would receive a suitable place of worship. The construction work, which was under the direction of the Tyrolean master mason Josef Lechleitner, lasted from February 1852 to November 1853. The inauguration took place on June 16, 1856. Due to a lack of money, the addition of the furnishings took several decades. In 1878 the chaplaincy was raised to a parish independent of Sins. In 1966 the sacristy was enlarged . An exterior renovation took place in 1993, and an interior renovation in 1998.

Building

The parish church of Mühlau is a hall church three axes in length with a choir closed on three sides . This is flanked south by the sacristy and north by the church tower . The tower has arched sound holes ; Above it rise four curly eyelashes from which a tall, octagonal pointed helmet rises. The bells were made by the H. Rüetschi foundry in Aarau in 1888 , and a small bell from 1667 has been preserved. Flanked by two arched windows , a sign carried by Tuscan columns protects the entrance.

Doppelpilaster wear the flat of the interior grooves lined ceiling, above the windows are lunettes cut. The ceiling is adorned with four paintings by Jean Danner and stucco work that was not added until 1907. A two-storey gallery rises above the entrance area in the west . Joseph Moosbrugger and his son made the font , pulpit , high altar and side altars in 1864/65 . Joseph Balmer contributed the altarpieces .
