Andreas Tremmel

Andreas Tremmel (born October 26, 1891 in Steinach , Lower Bavaria, † December 5, 1949 ) was a German local politician.

Career

After an apprenticeship at the Gewerbebank Straubing , he was a full-time member of the board between 1921 and 1949. Before 1933 he was a member of the Bavarian People's Party . After the end of the Second World War he was co-founder of the CSU in Straubing and from May 3, 1945 to July 3, 1945 mayor of the city. He was removed from office by the US occupation authorities for supporting membership in the SS , but later acquitted for lack of evidence. From 1948 to 1949 he was 2nd mayor.

Honors

Because of his local political achievements, he was made an honorary citizen of Straubing on December 9, 1949 . Andreas-Tremmel-Straße in Straubing is named after him.
