Gaston Belier

Gaston Bélier (* 1863 ; † 1938 ) was a French organist .

Life

Bélier was organist at the parish church of Saint-Maclou de Pontoise, which was elevated to a cathedral in 1966 ( titular organist since 1892) and around 1927 at St. Ferdinand-des-Ternes in Paris ( 17th arrondissement ). In 1927 he was involved in the renovation and expansion of the organ of La Madeleine in Paris ( 8th arrondissement ). In 1930 he participated in the reconstruction of the organ of the Carmelite monastery of St. Joseph von Pontoise carried out by Victor Gonzalez .

As a composer he left a Toccata pour Grand Orgue , which was first made known to a wider public in 2006 as part of a recording by Philippe Bardon , Belier's successor as titular organist of Saint-Maclou.
