Gaston Taument (born October 1, 1970 in The Hague ) is a former Dutch football player .
Club career
The midfielder began his professional career in the 1988/89 season at Feyenoord Rotterdam . Taument played a game in his first season and was loaned to the second division club Excelsior Rotterdam in the 1989/90 season after a game at Feyenoord , where he became a regular and played 25 games.
After a season in the Eerste Divisie , Taument returned to Feyenoord Rotterdam and also earned a regular place here. He played a total of 182 league games for the Rotterdam club, in which he scored 41 goals, before moving to the Portuguese first division club Benfica Lisbon in the 1997/98 season.
In his only season in the Portuguese SuperLiga , Taument played 16 games, but could not score a goal and then moved to the Belgian first division club RSC Anderlecht . He also stayed there for a season and switched to the Greek first division club OFI Kreta in summer 1999 , from where he joined the Austrian division SK Rapid Wien in summer 2000 and ended his professional career there after two seasons in summer 2002.
National team
Gaston Taument made his debut in the Dutch national team on February 12, 1992 in the away game against Portugal and was part of the squad at both the 1994 World Cup and the 1996 European Championship . He played a total of 15 international matches and scored two goals.
