The Gatschet family (fr. Gachet ) is an extinct patrician family from Payerne and Bern .

history

The gachet are first mentioned in Payerne in 1389 with Junker Humbert. A branch was established in the city of Bern in 1557.

Members of the family owned the lordships of Bellevaux and Montagny (Lutry) and the Gatschethaus (Rebgut) in Môtier (municipality of Mont-Vully ).

The Gatschet became extinct in 1885 in the male line.

The family coat of arms of the Gatschet or Gachet (from Payerne and Bern) shows a golden sun in blue . The Gatchet of Neuchâtel carry the same coat of arms . A growing golden lion on the temple helmet with blue and gold covers . This full coat of arms can also be seen in the vaulted ceiling of the gachet chapel of Payerne Abbey .

The Geneva gachets have the same coat of arms on a red background.
