Gauthier Pinaud (born January 8, 1988 in Châteauroux ) is a French football player .

Career

Pinaud grew up in Châteauroux in central France and was a member of the youth performance center of the professional club LB Châteauroux based there. At the age of 19 he was in the professional squad for the first time and made his second division debut when he came on on December 7, 2007 in a 2-1 defeat at Stade Brest in the 85th minute. The junior player, who was at home in the right wing position at the time, was called up sporadically in the following period, before he regularly received the trust of his coach from the second half of the 2009/10 season. Although he was an integral part of the team from then on, he mostly had to be content with substitutions in the final stages.

In the summer of 2011 he accepted a contract offer from the traditional club Racing Strasbourg, which had crashed into the fifth division , and immediately became an undisputed regular player. 2012 and 2013 get two promotions in a row, which he was able to play for the 2013/14 season in the nationwide third division. Pinaud, who had already moved from his offensive position to that of the right defender several times before, was finally retrained to the defensive role after promotion to the third division. This was particularly successful, as he was even voted Strasbourg's Player of the Year at the end of the season. However, the team only managed to rescue them from the threat of relegation by withdrawing their license from two competitors.

During his year in the third division, the player was able to recommend himself for higher tasks and managed to return to the second division in the summer of 2014 after three years by signing with the newly promoted US Orléans . He was regularly called up for this, but had to accept the team's direct relegation in 2015. In 2016 he was involved in the renewed promotion.
