Gavin du Porter (born Henry Francis Phillips in London on March 7, 1949 ) is an English pop and hit singer and songwriter .

biography

Gavin du Porter, who grew up in England, moved to Germany in 1965. After he settled in Dortmund in 1970, he became a member of the Red Roosters group, from which the band Epitaph emerged after a few line-up changes . He was also a singer of Showband Casino sextet and the jazz-rock -based Formation Time in Space .

With Got to Get Back to Pasadena du Porter released his first solo single in 1973 on EMI . A short time later, the successor appeared in Pasadena . In 1974, Just Like You and A New Land (When One Is Lighter Than You) followed . He had a radio hit in 1976 with the song You miss me, Maria , which reached number 31 on the German airplay charts. In the same year, the singles Bring den Wein and You are what I want were released , the latter in a duet with Ireen Sheer , whose husband he was from 1976 to 2000.

Apart from a few publications as a singer, from now on du Porter mainly worked in the background. Exceptions were the 1980 single Don't Play This Melody and the 1995 Two Hearts, One Thought , Another Duet with Sheer.
