In 1989, Brochu, the operator of a small petrol station in Québec, was in trouble: the big petrol stations are stiff competition, the authorities are creating bureaucratic hurdles and neither of the two sons is very interested in becoming the successor to their aging father. The older of the two sons takes the fall of the Berlin Wall as an opportunity to escape from everyday life in the gas station and travels to Berlin.
