Gazala or Ain el Gazala ( Arabic عين الغزالة, DMG ʿAin al-Ġazāla ) is a small Libyan town near the coast in the north-eastern district of al-Butnan , about 60 km west of Tobruk .

In the 1930s, during the Italian colonial era , Gazala was the site of a concentration camp . The place became famous for the nearby battles Operation Crusader and the Battle of Gazala during the Africa campaign in World War II .
