Martin-Christoph Wanner (born December 1, 1948 in Stuttgart ) is a German engineer and former professor of production engineering at the University of Rostock .

Life

After studying mechanical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Esslingen and the University of Stuttgart, as well as working for one year as a calculation engineer at T-Programm GmbH, Reutlingen , Wanner worked as a development engineer at PHB Weserhütte AG, Cologne. In 1980 he moved to Fraunhofer IPA , where he worked as a research associate and group leader and as the manager of Hans-Jürgen Warnecke until 1993.

Martin-Christoph Wanner was awarded a Dr.-Ing. In 1988 with a thesis on the topic: "Computer-aided methods for designing the mechanics of industrial robots" . PhD.

From 1994 to 1998 he was technical manager for robot and handling systems at Putzmeister AG, Aichtal.

In 1998, Wanner accepted a professorship for production engineering from the University of Rostock. Here he founded the Fraunhofer Application Center for Large Structures in Production Technology, which has had the status of Fraunhofer Institution since January 1, 2017 and headed it until May 31, 2017 in personal union with the Department of Production Technology. In his function as head of the facility and professor, Wanner was replaced by Wilko Flügge on June 1, 2017 (formerly Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH).

Research areas

The facilities formerly headed by Wanner conduct research in the fields of mechanical engineering , production technology , automation technology , measurement and quality technology as well as company and production organization. In these areas, the Fraunhofer IGP specializes in questions from the maritime industry and other large structures and advises customers in Germany and abroad.
