Gazprom Media
Gazprom-Media Holding ( Russian ОАО Газпром-Медиа Холдинг / OAO Gazprom-Media Holding ) is a Russian media group in the legal form of a Russian public limited company . The company is the largest Russian media group and is based in Moscow.
Development and structure of the company
The company was founded in January 1998 by the energy company Gazprom and was called Gazprom-Media until 2007 . In August 2005, Gazprom's parent company sold Gazprom-Media to Gazprombank for $ 166 million . Its main shareholders are the private pension company GAZFOND with more than 49% of the common shares, Gazprom with over 35% of the common shares and the Wneschekonombank with more than 10% of the common shares as well as the Russian Federation via the Ministry of Finance with 100% of the preferred shares .
More than 80 percent of the shares belonging to the GAZFOND Group (main shareholder of Gazprombank), however, are held in trust by the closed joint stock company "Lider" (Russian: ЗАО «Лидер», Д. У. / English: CJSC Leader, DU) managed. In 2006, the insurance company Sogaz, which belongs to Bank Rossija, acquired shares in "Lider" in the amount of 75% plus 1 share for a purchase price of an unknown amount. As a result of this, Yuri Kovalchuk, as the main shareholder of Bank Rossija, now had a decisive influence on both Gazprombank and the media group. In addition, Yuri Shamalov, the president of the GAZFOND pension fund , is the son of Nikolay Shamalov, the second largest shareholder in Bank Rossija .
The General Director of Gazprom-Media Holding and Head of Management is Dmitri Nikolayevich Chernyshenko. The chairman of the board of directors is Alexej Miller . (As of April 2015).
Gazprom-Media is the majority owner of the following media companies:
- TV channels: NTW , TNT , subscription TV NTW Plus and others
- Radio stations: Echo Moskwy , Relax FM 90.8, Pervoje popularnoje radio, Radio NEXT, SITI-FM 87.9. and more
- Print media: The weekly Itogi , the weekly Peterburgski Tschas Pik and Tribuna , the weekly TV magazine Sem dnej , and the monthly women's magazine Karawan istorij
- The video portal Rutube
- The production company NTW-Kino is mainly dedicated to the production of television films and television series.
- The Oktyabr Cinema Center in Moscow
- The real estate company Telebasis owns a 570,000 square meter production site for film and television recordings next to the Gorki cinema studio. It also rents sound studios, transmission equipment, offices and storage rooms.
The company's 2004 sales were approximately $ 500 million.
