The organs of the GdS youth are the union youth day and the federal youth leadership.

The union youth day, the supreme body, takes place regularly every 5 years. Exceptions that require this to take place earlier are possible in certain cases. It consists of the federal youth leadership, the state youth leaders and other representatives of the state youth associations. He elects the federal youth leadership, sets u. a. the guidelines for the work of the GdS-Jugend establish, deal with and resolve questions of youth work that are of fundamental importance.

Federal youth leadership

The federal youth leadership is elected to the trade union youth day. It consists of the federal youth leader and 4 deputies. The tasks of the federal youth leadership are carried out on a voluntary basis.

tasks

According to the statutes, the GdS-Jugend represents and promotes the professional, legal and social concerns of its members. She is particularly committed to safeguarding and up-to-date further development of civil service , DO , collective bargaining , labor and social law and vocational training. It supports the members in vocational training and further education and participates in state, social and professional education work as well as in questions of youth law.

The cooperation with German and international youth organizations and the international youth exchange is welcomed and supported.

Services

Just because of their membership, the members of the GdS Jugend also receive the benefits of the GdS (social benefits according to guidelines, benefits from a leisure accident insurance , strike pay , legal protection, funding of sporting events, etc.). In addition, the members receive current information through the GdS magazine, in which (in addition to separate information brochures) the GdS youth can also find their place. Furthermore, the members receive technical support through various events and training courses (organized at the state / federal level) which also serve personal development. Social togetherness and professional exchange, including between the individual branches of social insurance, are also promoted.

Due to the membership of the GdS-Jugend in the DBB Jugend (dbbj), the members have further advantages nationwide (e.g. discounts on online shopping). Depending on the federal state and personal status (e.g. apprentice in Bavaria), further local discounts (e.g. free travel health insurance or financial aid for specialist literature for training) may be possible.

Representation of interests in the social insurance branches

Members of the GdS-Jugend also volunteer in interest groups ( youth / staff representatives ) . Often the local interest groups ( JAV , PR ) as well as the level representatives (BJAV, BPR, HJAV / GJAV, HPR / GPR ) are covered in the social insurance branches. The GdS and GdS-Jugend support them in this, for example in the elections to the committees, with training and through (legal) advice.
