Gebhard Hees

Gebhard Hees (born April 8, 1926 in Jungenthal ; † November 1, 2009 in Berlin ) was a German civil engineer and professor of structural engineering .

Life

Gebhard Hees received his doctorate degree in 1965 from the Technical University of Stuttgart with a dissertation on the generalization of the force quantity method and the deformation quantity method based on a mathematical analysis. PhD . In 1968 , Hees completed his habilitation with the text The calculation of bending beams in nonlinear moment-curvature relationships . His scientific teacher was Friedrich Wilhelm Bornscheuer .

In 1972 he took over the chair for statics of building structures at the Technical University of Berlin , which he held until 1991. At this chair, for example, Klaus Berner, Karl-Eugen Kurrer and Werner Lorenz received their first scientific imprint. From 1987 to 1988 he was dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. In 1985, Hees took over from Robert von Halász as the editor of the magazine Bautechnik , a position he held until 1991.

After his retirement , Gebhard Hees was elected President of the Baukammer Berlin at the end of 1991 , which he chaired until the end of 1997. He then became involved in the Chamber's Education Committee. His honorary duties also included membership in the jury for the Schinkel Prize , in which he was committed to the next generation of the structural engineering division .
