Brothers Friday
The Freitag brothers ( Otto , * 1898 in Berlin , † April 6, 1982 in Mainz , and Willi , * April 9, 1895 in Berlin) were German football players. In the 1920s they formed the defensive framework of 1. FSV Mainz 05 . With Paul Lipponer , the Freitag brothers were the first stars of the 05er.
After the First World War, in 1919, the Freitag brothers moved from BFC Alemannia 90 to the Rhine. Otto Freitag had to end his career in August 1930 due to an injury. From 1925 to 1930/31, 103 district league and final round appearances were recorded in which the tough left defender failed to score. His brother Willi ended his career in 1932/33 with sporadic assignments. 132 missions are recorded between 1925 and 1933, once the middle runner was successful as a goal scorer.
Otto Freitag was the host of the Mainz clubhouse into old age.
