The Gedges Rocks are a group of cliff rocks in front of the Graham Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Wilhelm Archipelago, they rise to heights between 5 and 19 m at distances of 5 km north-northwest of Grim Rock and 16 km west-southwest of Cape Tuxen .
Participants of the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer John Rymill discovered them and named them as Gedges Reef . It is named after The Gedges , a reef in the mouth of the Helford River in the English county of Cornwall . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee decided in 1971 to adapt this name to better reflect the actual nature of the geographic object.
