The documentary series reconstructs various hostage-taking cases from history with the help of detailed experience reports from kidnapping victims. It reports on the negotiation with the hostage takers about the conditions for ransom payments and the release of the abductees. Not only are the respective events reconstructed, but also the consequences for everyone involved. Victims, family members, perpetrators, as well as police officers and negotiators have their say.
