The battle near Wysoka (Czech bitva na Chváleňáku ) took place on the night of November 6th to 7th, 1436 between an imperial army and the troops of the Hussite town of Königgrätz near Wysoka in Bohemia . The Königgrätzer mercenaries under the captain Zdislav Mnich von Roudnice attacked the attackers under cover of darkness.

Course of events

In November 1436, Emperor Sigismund had the town of Königgrätz - a center of the Sirotčí - attacked in order to subjugate Ambrož Hradecký . The imperial army was advancing towards the city from two sides. From the south-west came the troops under the command of Diviš Bořek von Miletínek , from the south those under the command of Wilhelm Kostka von Postupitz and Jan Pardus von Vratkov. Bořek's troops set up camp on November 6th in Plačice an hour away from Königgrätz ; Kostka and Pardus camped between the Malý Chválenský Kopec and the Velký Chválenský Kopec near Wysoka. At dusk on November 6th, the Königgrätzer captain Zdislav Mnich von Roudnice left the city with his infantry.

The Königgrätzer mercenaries attacked Diviš Bořek von Miletínek's camp, set it on fire and smashed the wagons. Diviš and his people fled to the Kunburg .

The attack on Kostka and Pardus' camp was just as surprising. Wilhelm Kostka von Postupitz and many of his people were killed on November 7th in their tents on the night camp, the rest of the troops dispersed on the Malý Chválenský Kopec. 108 men were killed and 300 prisoners and rich booty were deported to Königgrätz.

On the battlefield known today as Hřbitůvek , east of the road to Hradec Králové, a thin sword 1 m long, remains of armor and horseshoes and some silver coins were found in the brook.
