Gefion Helmke

Gefion Helmke (born October 10, 1909 in Berlin ; † December 10, 2001 in Munich ) was a German actress , voice actress and reciter .

Life

Helmke was the daughter of a high school supervisor and after completing her studies in German and theater studies at the University of Berlin, she attended the drama school of Ilka Grüning and Lucie Höflich . After her theatrical debut in 1930 at the Friedrich Theater in Dessau , she played in Wiesbaden and Munich. After 1945 she received theater engagements at many German theaters, including Osnabrück, Göttingen, Oldenburg, Berlin, Salzburg, Munich and Bremen. From 1955 to 1959 she was part of the cast of the Südwestfunk Baden-Baden. Since the 1960s, she also took on many television roles. She was also active as a voice actress.

Her best-known film role was in the early 1950s, directed by Falk Harnack, that of prison doctor Dr. Käthe Neumeier in the East German DEFA production of Zweig's literature adaptation Das Beil von Wandsbek .

Helmke was married to the director and actor Peter Stanchina .
