The all-terrain multi-purpose device 2.5 (GMG 2.5) was a vehicle from the Eilenburger Baumaschinenwerke (EBAWE) .

The GMG 2.5 was created as the successor to the GMG 2-70 , which had been in service since 1966. The vehicle was developed in accordance with the requirements of the National People's Army of the GDR and was also particularly suitable for field-based handling of goods up to 2.5 t under difficult conditions. It could also be used as a light tug or recovery vehicle . Between 1986 and 1987 a total of 77 vehicles were delivered according to demand. The GMG 2.5 was built from parts from the W 50 truck, among other things .

The vehicle had a lifting device designed as a luffing mast. The all-wheel drive was designed in such a way that it was mechanical when driving on the road and hydromechanical when driving in a stack . All- wheel steering was available in batch mode . The hydromechanical transmission had an electromechanical control.

The GMG 2.5 was equipped with a cable winch (pulling force 25 kN) , a tire pressure control system , a wading system for driving through water obstacles as well as transfer and differential locks. The device was able to travel independently in columns.

The GMG 2.5 was originally intended for use by all armies of the Warsaw Treaty . In addition to the military, a civilian version of the vehicle was also built.
