Emergence

The play was created in 2005/2006 as part of the dramatist funding project Dramenprozessor . The premiere was in the Theater an der Winkelwiese in Zurich . Directed by Stephan Roppel . Actors at the premiere were Anna-Katharina Müller , Sebastian Krähenbühl and Manuel Bürgin . The play was published in 2008 by Theater der Zeit and by Rowohlt Theater Verlag .

action

The play takes place at a time when the war started before it broke out. There are two groups: the farmers and the potatoes. Usually they are the same: they wear the same clothes, they spend their time together. But the question arises, “Is it that important. To know who you are? Who do you belong to? ”. The war takes place inside. In private. A woman is with a man who belongs to "the others". Not only his beliefs or his origins make him a stranger, the ideals of the peaceful coexistence of different ethnic groups are also not intact. There is a difference between “us” and “them” who discharge themselves in anger and aggression.

resonance

  • The Zürcher Tages-Anzeiger wrote on January 27, 2008: “In terms of its layout, the evening could easily have ended flat or even trivial, but this fear is unfounded here. Because Janjic puts the conflict in private. And so creates a touching family portrait. That shows the powerlessness of the characters. And with the team around director Stephan Roppel is in good hands. Roppel, known for his careful handling of text material and a weakness for strict reduction, becomes very clear in this premiere for his circumstances. And he has to. Because acts of war can only be convincingly motivated by consistently playing out emotions. "
