The Protestant community center Mariendorf-Ost , built in two construction phases 1964–1966 according to a design by the architect Ewald Bubner, is located at Liviusstraße 25 in the Berlin district of Mariendorf in the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district .
history
The Protestant church Mariendorf-East was on 1 January 1961 by the municipality of the village church Mariendorf separated and independent. On September 30, 1962 the foundation stone was laid for a new community center , and on October 4, 1964 the first building complex was inaugurated . Until the completion of the parish hall in 1966, services continued to take place in the chapel to the four apostles on Rixdorfer Straße. A church was originally planned as the third construction phase. But since there was no money for it, it was not built. In 1973 a gallery was built into the church hall. A new organ was installed in 1977. The colored art glazing by Hans Beyermann in the church hall took place in 1980.
Building description
The flat-roofed hall church is an independent wing of the building , in an extension there are youth rooms , the parish office and apartments . The longitudinal walls of the hall church are extensively glazed. The end walls are closed except for a high-lying window band.
In front of the group of buildings on Rixdorfer Straße there is a bare steel bell carrier. There hangs a bronze bell that was cast in 1966 by Petit & Gebr. Edelbrock . It has a height of 69 cm, a diameter of 86 cm, a crown of 12 cm and weighs 370 kg. Their strike tone is b '.
