Gene Gotti (* 1946 ) is an American mafioso and a member of the La Cosa Nostra clan in New York City, which is classified as a Gambino family .
Life
Gene Gotti is a younger brother of John Gotti , a head of the Gambino family, who died in prison in 2002. The family grew up in Ozone Park , Queens . In 1966 he began working as a gangster for the Gambino family. Gene became an official member ( made man ) in 1976. He served in the South Ozone Park crew (Queens) under his brother John. Within the Gambino family there was no conflict between the leadership under Paul Castellano and the "ground staff". Castellano had banned drug trafficking . Neither John Gotti, Gene nor his friend Angelo Ruggiero adhered to that . When Castellano tried to restore his authority through murder, John stepped in and murdered his own boss in 1985. John Gotti sat at the head of the family and Gene rose to the family's capo regime .
However, Gene's drug trafficking was uncovered and he was sentenced to 50 years in prison in 1989. Gene Gotti has lost his status as a capo regime due to his unauthorized drug trafficking, but he continues to exercise great influence over the Gambino family and his word continues to carry weight on the streets of New York City. On March 13, 2003 Richard V had to face a 16-year prison sentence for extortion together with his son Richard G. and brother Peter Gotti . Gene Gotti joined the Federal Correctional Institution, Pollock, in Pollock, Louisiana in August 2013 . His earliest discharge date would be September 14, 2018, and he would be 72 years old.
Former high-ranking mafioso Salvatore "Sammy Bull" Gravano , who testified against his former Gambino gang family, alleged that Gene Gotti personally carried out numerous murders; however, Gene was never charged with murder.
Family relationships
Gene Gotti was one of five sons (Richard V, John, Gene, Peter and Vincent) of the married couple John Gotti, Sr. and his wife Fannie, who all became members of the Cosa Nostra.
So is z. B. Richard V. Gotti (* 1942 in Brooklyn), another brother Gene, member of the 'family' since about 1988; He has been working for the clan since 1962. In detention, John tried to enforce him as a capo, as Gene was no longer allowed to take up this position in order to consolidate his position as head of the Gambino family. His son Richard G. Gotti (born November 30, 1967) has also been a member of the Gambino family since 1992 , for which he worked since the 1980s.
