Joseph Siravo (born March 11, 1955 in Washington, DC - April 11, 2021 ) was an American actor .

Life

Siravo graduated from Stanford University and the Tisch School of the Arts of New York University . He has appeared several times on New York's Broadway since the 1990s . In the national tour of the play Jersey Boys , he appeared as Gyp DeCarlo over 1000 times.

Siravo was often cast as a mafioso in film and television productions, possibly also because of his Italian-American ancestry . As early as 1993, in his film debut in Brian de Palma's Carlito’s Way, he played Vincent “Vinnie” Taglialucci in a supporting role, a mafioso who tries to murder Carlito, played by Al Pacino . Siravo then played a seedy bar owner with ties to the Mafia in the 2002 film Wisegirls . He played both the mobster John Gotti (in the movie The Wannabe , 2015) and his brother Gene Gotti (in the TV movie Witness to the Mob , 1998). He had a slightly different role in 2016 in the series American Crime Story , in which he played the father of the murder victim Ronald Goldman .

Siravo's work for film and television includes 50 productions. He died of cancer.
