The C IV was a steam freight locomotive that was built between 1884 and 1897 for the Royal Bavarian State Railways .
description
Between 1884 and 1893, 87 units with wet steam twin engines were delivered, in 1889 two test locomotives and between 1892 and 1897 98 additional units with wet steam twin-cylinder compound engines. The vehicles, which for the first time no longer had the outer frame typical of Bavarian locomotives, were soon no longer able to cope with the increasing demands. Nevertheless, numerous copies were still taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn and classified as class 53 80-81 with road numbers 53 8011-8076 and 53 8081-8168. The twin locomotives were retired in 1926, the composite locomotives until 1931. The twin locomotives were equipped with a bay 3 T 10.2 tender. The compound machines had a bay 3 T 10.5 tender.
