Geneviève Delattre
Geneviève Delattre (born September 9, 1920 in La Tronche , Isère Département , † November 16, 1993 in Santa Barbara , California ) was an American Romance philologist of French origin.
life and work
Geneviève Delattre went to the United States after World War II. She received her doctorate from Columbia University in 1960 with the thesis Les opinions littéraires de Balzac (Paris 1961) and taught at Mount Holyoke College and at the University of Colorado . In 1964 she went with her husband Pierre Delattre to the University of California at Santa Barbara and taught there from 1972 to 1986 as a university professor. In 1983 she was Teacher of the Year.
In Santa Barbara the "Pierre and Geneviève Delattre Memorial Library" bears her name.
