Gennaro Ursino
Gennaro Ursino (* around 1650 in Roio del Sangro ( Chieti ); † after 1715 in Naples ) was an Italian composer of the Neapolitan School .
Live and act
Gennaro Ursino entered the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini in 1662 , where he was taught by Giovanni Salvatore (1610–1688), among others . After this training, he became assistant to Francesco Provenzale , Salvatore's successor , in 1673 . From 1675, the year he was ordained priest, until 1700 he taught as a secondo maestro at the Conservatory. After Provençal resignation, he was primo maestro from 1701 to 1705 . He was also conductor at the Jesuit College , the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata Maggiore and the Chiesa di Santa Maria in Portico . Francesco Mancini was one of his students .
Ursino performed several stage works that are no longer preserved. Furthermore, motets known and works for church use.
