Geoagiu watercourse in the Apuseni Mountains |
The Geoagiu ( Hungarian Bózes-patak ) is a river that flows in the Hunedoara district in the Romanian region of Transylvania .
It rises in the southern foothills of the Apuseni Mountains and then flows further in a south-easterly direction before it flows into the Mureș River in the small town of Geoagiu .
On its course of the river it crosses a predominantly hilly and wooded landscape with the municipality of Balşa . It mainly serves as a source of water for the residents, but the Romans also made it usable for agriculture.
Attractions
The Geoagiu shows a multitude of waterfalls several meters high, especially in its upper reaches. It is one of the main attractions of the Hunedoara region and is also part of the local nature reserve.
