Geoffrey William Hugo lamp

Geoffrey William Hugo Lampe (born August 13, 1912 - † August 5, 1980 ) was a British theologian .

Lampe graduated from Exeter College , Oxford , with a degree in literae humaniores in 1935 and in theology in 1936 . From 1960 to 1970 he was Ely Professor of Divinity , from 1971 to 1979 Regius Professor of Divinity at Cambridge University . He was also a member of the General Synod of the Church of England . Lampe is particularly known as the editor of the originally theologically oriented Patristic Greek Lexicon . In 1963 he was elected a member ( Fellow ) of the British Academy .
