Geoffroi de Vayrols

Geoffroi de Vayrols († March 10, 1376 in Toulouse ) was Bishop of Lausanne from 1342 to 1347 , Bishop of Carpentras from 1347 to 1357 , Bishop of Carcassonne from 1357 to 1361 and Archbishop of Toulouse from 1361 until his death .

Life

Geoffroi came from the Quercy . In 1329 he became cathedral cantor in Barcelona , in 1334 Canon of Cahors and chancellor of the bishop. On November 20, 1342 Pope Clement VI appointed him . to the Bishop of Lausanne. Geoffroi stayed with the Curia in Avignon and never took possession of his diocese, but was represented by a vicar general . In 1344 he agreed with Ludwig II , Lord of Vaud, on a division of the rulership rights in the bishopric. Secular power was exercised by a jointly appointed bailiff . Geoffroi was transferred to Carpentras on February 19, 1347 and to Carcassonne on January 18, 1357. On March 10, 1361 he became Archbishop of Toulouse, which he held until his death in 1376.
