history
The forerunners of the publication operating under this name since 1946 were the annual reports of the Geographical-Ethnographic Society in Zurich (1899 / 1900–1916 / 1917), communications from the Geographical-Ethnographic Society of Zurich (1917 / 1918–1943 / 1945) and The Swiss Geographer - Le Géographe Suisse (1923 / 1924–1945).
After an organizational restructuring, the journal has been adapting the standards of major specialist journals with international expert reviews since 1997. An international appraiser - panel acts as advisory board and consists of representatives of the recognized geographical science.
Since January 2015 the journal has been published according to the open access model .
