Geographic grid

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A geographical grid is a system of lines that is applied to a map (cartography) .

The lines are based on the longitude and latitude of the earth's body.

Since they are “distorted” by the leveling of the earth during the map projection , they form irregular squares in the form of trapezoids , triangles , rectangles with different side lengths, rarely squares , sometimes with curved lines.

Geographical grids are less suitable for determining locations using coordinate systems , but they provide information about the position of a location in relation to longitude and latitude in the degree system.
