Geologov Island ( English ; Russian Остров Геологов Ostrow Geologow , German “Geologists Island ” ) is an irregularly shaped, around 2.2 km long and about 0.4 km wide island off the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . In the Bunger Hills , it is located at a distance of 4 km halfway between the Vertoletnyj Peninsula and Fuller Island . Their north and south ends rise steeply.
Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped it and named it in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia put the name in a partial translation into English.
