The Georg-Elser-Hallen were in the Munich district of Berg am Laim at Rosenheimer Straße 143 . The former factory halls of Mahag - Münchner Automobil-Handel Haberl GmbH & Co. KG were named after the resistance fighter Georg Elser in 2000 . They were among Munich's most popular event halls and were demolished in autumn 2008.

history

In 1996 the Art Park Ost was opened on a former factory site. The adjoining, former MAHAG halls were included in the concept of the party and event area in 2000. After extensive renovation, which made it possible to adapt to different event types and dimensions, as well as the installation of modern technology, the hall complex was inaugurated in January 2000 by the initiator of the project, Wolfgang Nöth . His Elserhallen Veranstaltungs GmbH Wolfgang Nöth was the tenant of the property belonging to the Bonn company IVG Immobilien. Michael Blume and Frank Bergmeier initiated the naming of the plant after Georg Elser.

The “cult location” consisted of the Great Elser Hall , the Small Elser Hall , two foyers and an additional hall. Concerts, presentations, film and television productions, theater and dance events were held here. The halls continued to operate after the Art Park East was closed in January 2003. Since the owner wanted to build a new building instead of the halls, the event was stopped in July 2008. IVG Immobilien had the halls demolished immediately. During the demolition, 90,000 square meters of enclosed space were decontaminated and disposed of. The “Novum” office and hotel complex with three buildings is to be built on the site as part of the “Around the Ostbahnhof” planning area.
