Life

He belonged to the noble family of Gashin . His father was Johann Georg von Gashin - brother of Melchior Ferdinand von Gashin .

Like his two brothers, he studied at the Catholic University in Leuven . He was part of a tour group in which several Silesian aristocratic sons took part, and in 1660 was director of the “German Nation” of the university. He then completed a cavalier tour for further training and is said to have also served at Leopold I's court . Gashin married Countess Maria Josepha von Saurau at the imperial court in 1673. The relationships connected with the marriage gave the family access to the important networks of the court nobility. The marriage produced three sons. He later married Maria Isabella von Lobkowitz and widow of Adam Matthias Graf Trautmannsdorff . Another son was born from this marriage.

After the death of his childless deceased uncle, he was heir to the funds created by Fideikommiss . In 1695 he became governor of the principalities of Opole and Ratibor. He was also the Imperial Chamberlain and a real Privy Councilor. During his time the family entails reached its greatest extent. Over fifty possessions and goods belonged to it.

He had a calvary built on St. Annaberg , which belonged to his family . The Calvary of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska served as a model for this. He won the Italian Domenico Signo , who lived in Opole , as an architect . Between 1700 and 1709 three large and thirty smaller chapels were built.

A portrait in the Kreuzkirche on Annaberg reminds of him.
