Georg Böhler (born April 4, 1887 in Altenstadt (today fraction of the city of Feldkirch ), † February 20, 1979 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( CS , VF ). Böhler was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1931 to 1934 and a member of the Vorarlberg state government from 1934 to 1938 .

Georg Böhler was born on April 4, 1887 in the municipality of Altenstadt , which is now part of the city of Feldkirch, as the son of the railway employee Johann Georg Böhler and his wife Sofia Theresia. from 1893 to 1901 he attended elementary school in Altenstadt, then began an apprenticeship as a fitter at the kk Staatsbahnwerkstätte at Feldkirch station . During his three-year apprenticeship, he attended the commercial training school in Feldkirch for two years. After completing his training, Böhler worked as an assistant machine fitter in the state railway workshop. From 1908 to 1911, however, he did military service with the II Regiment of the Tyrolean Kaiserjäger in Bozen . From 1911 to 1917 he was employed again in the railway workshop before he was called up for military service. In 1917 he became head of the Altenstadt economic office, but in 1922 he returned to the service of the state railways. Here he initially worked as a locksmith again, but passed the sub-civil servant examination on October 24, 1922 and was transferred to the office. In the office he was initially an accounting officer, cashier and group leader in accounting and materials services.

Political career

As early as 1919, Georg Böhler was politically active as a member of the Altenstadt municipal council. He remained so for the Christian Social Party until 1925. On February 16, 1931, he was promoted to the Bundesbahnrediventen, in the same year on December 2, Böhler moved for the first time as a member of the National Council, succeeding Karl Drexel . Although he resigned from this after a legislative period on May 2, 1934, he was elected in the same year on March 5 as a regional councilor in the state government of Vorarlberg under Governor Ernst Winsauer . As a regional councilor, he was responsible for health and sanitation as well as housing subsidies. From 1937 to 1938 he was also a consultant for workers' and salaried employees in the national leadership of the Fatherland Front .
