Georg Christoph Binding

Georg Christoph Binding (born October 16, 1807 in Frankfurt am Main ; † January 12, 1877 there ) was a German lawyer and politician of the Free City of Frankfurt .

Binding was the son of the master baker and senator Wilhelm Peter Binding and his wife Christine Dorothea Krieg (1774-1849). He married his cousin Maria Dorothea called Doris Binding. Their son Karl Binding (1841-1920) became professor of law and rector of Leipzig University. His son Rudolf G. Binding became known as an author.

Georg Christoph Binding studied law and was awarded a Dr. jur. doctorate and lived as a lawyer in Frankfurt. From 1843 to 1857 he was a member of the Legislative Assembly and from 1847 to 1857 of the Permanent Citizens' Representation .

In the revolution of 1848/1849 in the Free City of Frankfurt , he was one of the city's leading liberals. In 1848 he was a member of the preliminary parliament . On August 24, 1848, he was elected to the 30-member constitutional committee at the suggestion of the Monday wreath and the German Association. On October 25, 1848, the citizens elected him to the Constituent Assembly of the Free City of Frankfurt . There he was first vice-president until January 8, 1849. From January 8, 1849 to May 14, 1849 he was the second vice president.
