Georg Friedrich Bolte
Georg Friedrich Bolte (* 1814 in Hanover ; † July 13, 1877 in Berlin ) was a German painter.
Life
Bolte came from Hanover and came to Karl Wilhelm Wach's studio in 1834 . From 1844 to 1851 he stayed in Rome, Italy, where he made a Christ on the cross in 1845. This is also where the panorama of Naples was created, which Wilhelm Witthöft later made as a copperplate engraving. A small booklet accompanying this panorama was also published in 1854. The pictures he showed in exhibitions at the Berlin Academy from 1836 to 1866 were often criticized. He is known for the copy of the "Greifswalder Croyteppich " in 1854. He made church paintings, genre pictures and portraits. The genre painter Gustav Guthknecht (* 1843) was one of his students.
Bolte made copies for the Raffael Hall in Potsdam and created altar paintings, a. a. for the Jakobikirche in Greifswald and the Marienkirche in Pasewalk .
Bolte had been married to Karoline (née Krahmann, † 1916) since 1857. The Germanist and folklorist Johannes Bolte (* February 11, 1858, † July 25, 1937) was their son.
His grave is in the Old St. Jacobi Cemetery in Berlin-Neukölln , Karl-Marx-Straße (Berlin) 4.
