Georg Friedrich Carl Kölling (born October 15, 1825 in Sömmerda , † May 13, 1872 in Erfurt ) was a German sculptor .

He worked as a teacher at the Royal Provincial, Arts and Crafts School in Erfurt. In addition to a number of sandstone statues for the decoration of the Erfurt Cathedral , he created a monument to Christian Reichart as his most famous work . He made the portrait of the councilor and gardener, who is considered the founder of horticulture in Germany, on behalf of the Erfurt Horticultural Association from Seeberger sandstone . He used a painting by the Erfurt painter Jakob Samuel Beck , who portrayed Reichart in 1760 during his lifetime as a worthy, strict man. The inauguration of the monument took place on September 9, 1867 on today's Karl-Marx-Platz, in 1899 it was moved to the green area on Pförtchengasse.

In 1870 Kölling moved into the house for the small elephant (Fischersand 1) in Erfurt. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 46 and was buried on May 16, 1872 in the city's southern cemetery.
