Georg Friedrich Steiner
Georg Friedrich Steiner (* before October 3, 1704 ; † around 1766 ) was a Thorner white tanner and amateur illustrator.
In 1738–1745, Georg Friedrich Steiner created a series of drawings depicting city views of Thorn and its surroundings (so-called Steiner album). The collection consisted of 128 drawings with views and floor plans of the most important buildings by Thorn in the 18th century, as well as views of Königsberg , Kulm , Kulmsee , Graudenz , Strasburg an der Drewenz and Gollub .
The original drawings were lost during the Second World War , but photographic copies have been preserved that depict many buildings in Thorner, including monuments that already do not exist, such as the original Thorner Artushof , the Nikolauskirche, Georgskirche, the Neustadtrathaus, the Städtisches Zeughaus, or strong remodeled, such as the Marienkirche, the Jesuit college, the Meissner and Fenger city residences.
